New Bern, NC – 5/6/17

Event #2 of the Collins Inc. – Youth Educational Series brought twenty-two youth teams to the Lawson Creek Park & Recreation Center in New Bern, NC to test their skills among area middle school and high school anglers.  Battling through constant changing conditions due to a strong southwest wind that ultimately lowered the water levels in the Trent and lower Neuse Rivers throughout the day, these youth anglers proved that they are willing and eager to face whatever mother nature has to throw their way.  Regardless of the playing field, these young anglers simply want to fish.

Congratulations to all teams for your job regarding fish care.  Every single fish that crossed the scales was alive and well and each were returned to the water to be caught again another day.  Thank-you boat captains for your help with this matter.   Your teaching of the proper treatment of our natural resources will go along way with these young anglers.

Unfortunately, one of our attending youth angler boats became disabled while on the water and was unable to return in time for the afternoon weigh-in session.  However, we can verify that the young angler did well and was able to catch some really nice fish before the mishap.  Great job Grady!!!  Let this memory light a fire of desire that you use to fuel your spirit at our next event.
